The Imperial Coil — Baroque Dragon Mask, Gothic Masquerade, Hand-Painted

The Imperial Coil — Something rather formidable has coiled its way into the Archive.

It combines a snarling dragon face with four sweeping horns, a layered flame-like mane and dense Baroque scrollwork, creating a dramatic decorative piece for Gothic interiors, masquerade displays and darker collections.

Scaled brows and curling ornament surround the open eye sockets, while the broad sculpted nose, textured cheeks, modelled teeth and four prominent fangs give the mask its commanding expression. The open eye sockets and mouth cavity form part of the original design rather than being filled or backed.

Finished in matte black, the deeply sculpted surface catches the light across the horns, scales and flowing ornament without disguising its 3D-printed character. Hand-painted silver and bronze finishes are also available, with restrained drybrushing used to lift the raised detail while keeping the recessed areas dark.

Finish options

• Matte Black — our standard finish. Deep matte PLA that holds shadow and shows every sculpted edge.

• Antique Silver — hand-painted and drybrushed by us in the workshop so the raised detail lifts and the recesses stay dark. Each one is finished individually, so no two will be exactly alike.

• Antique Bronze — hand-painted and drybrushed by us in the workshop so the raised detail lifts and the recesses stay dark. Each one is finished individually, so no two will be exactly alike.

• Other (message me) — the same hand-painted finish in colours of your choosing, for the same price. Send us a message before ordering and tell us what you have in mind, and we will say honestly whether we can do it justice.

Made and posted in Ireland

Printed, finished and packed by the two of us in Dublin, and posted from Ireland — so EU orders arrive without customs charges or import delays. Masks in matte black go out in 1–3 working days; hand-painted ones take 3–5, because the paint needs time to dry properly between coats.

Product safety

• Decorative item for indoor use only.

• Not protective equipment.

• Not a toy. Keep away from young children.

• Keep away from excessive heat, open flames and prolonged direct sunlight — PLA can soften at high temperatures.

• Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and solvents, especially on a hand-painted finish.

• Handle the horns, fangs and fine projecting details with care.

• Materials: PLA. Hand-painted finishes also use acrylic paint and matt varnish.

• Due to the nature of 3D printing, minor layer lines and small variations in finish are normal and form part of the piece’s character.
