The Silent Augur — A corvid skull, mounted the way a specimen ought to be.
A raven skull set in high relief on a pointed-oval Baroque cartouche — the plate worked as openwork scrolls and acanthus, pierced right through in places, with the skull mounted proud at its centre. The cranium is smooth, the sockets are deep and empty, and the beak carries clear of the plate entirely, projecting about 11 cm out from the wall.
It is a specimen mount without the specimen, and the projection is the point: from the side it throws a real shadow rather than sitting flat like a plaque.
3D printed in PLA in our Dublin workshop, the matte surface keeps the smooth dome of the cranium reading against the busy scrollwork behind it, and holds the eye sockets properly black. Fine layer lines may remain visible as part of the 3D-printing process.
Designed for curiosity walls, reading corners and collections of specimen mounts and oddities.

Please note
The beak stands about 11 cm out from the wall, so give it a little clearance — this is not one for the back of a narrow hallway where sleeves will catch it.
Finish options
Matte Black — our standard finish. Deep matte-black PLA that holds shadow and shows every sculpted edge, raised detail and recess.
Antique Silver — hand-painted over a matte-black base and carefully drybrushed so the raised detail lifts into silver while the recesses stay dark. Each one is finished individually, so no two are ever quite the same.
Antique Bronze — the same hand-painted treatment in a warmer metal, for rooms where black reads too cold. Finished individually, so small variations are part of its character.
Other (message me) — the same hand-painted finish in colours of your choosing, for the same price. Send us a message before you order and tell us what you have in mind, and we will say honestly whether we can do it justice.

Printed, finished and packed by the two of us in Dublin, and posted from Ireland — so EU orders arrive without customs charges or import delays.
Pieces in matte black normally go out within 1–3 working days. Hand-painted finishes take 3–5 working days, because the paint needs time to dry properly between coats.

Wall fixings are not supplied.
The beak is the most exposed part of the piece — handle it by the plate rather than the beak, and mount it where it will not be knocked.
Not a toy. Keep away from young children.
Keep away from excessive heat, open flames and prolonged direct sunlight — PLA can soften at high temperatures.
Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and solvents, especially on a hand-painted finish.
Materials: PLA. Hand-painted finishes also use acrylic paint and matt varnish.
Minor layer lines and small variations in the printed or hand-painted finish are normal and form part of the piece’s character.

Every piece gets checked before it is packed. If something turns up damaged, or simply is not what you were hoping for, please send us a message — we are a two-person workshop and would far rather hear from you and put it right.
