Horns sweep back and out from the temples, and the bone itself is carved over almost every surface — filigree scrollwork across the brow and down the cheekbones, ribbed detail worked into the horns, and a pointed spur below the jaw.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt sits somewhere between memento mori and reliquary: recognisably a skull, but decorated to the point where the carving is the subject and the bone is only the canvas.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e3D printed in PLA in our Dublin workshop, the matte surface throws the carved filigree into relief against the smooth bone between, and keeps the eye sockets and the gaps between the teeth reading as real depth.
